Havering Chamber kicks off 2025 with its most successful networking meeting ever!

The Havering Chamber held it’s first breakfast networking meeting of the year on Wednesday 29 January and it proved to be a great success.

The meeting was generously hosted by Chamber member Pinney Talfourd at their Upminster office and we welcomed over 45 businesses to the event.

Every Chamber networking meeting is FREE to members and to first time visitors so across the year represents fantastic value for the cost of a membership.

Each month we aim to hold our networking meeting at member premises which has resulted in us visiting some wonderful venues over the months such as the Havering Museum, the Upminster Windmill, the ITS Bus in Romford Market, West & Coe Undertakers, St Francis Hospice, the Havering Mind Winter Wonderland, and many more.

The meetings are very relaxed and a great opportunity for Havering businesses to introduce themselves and collaborate.

Our February meeting will be on Wednesday 26 February and hosted by The Home of Mortgages. You can find out more and book your place on the Events page of the Chamber website.

Could you provide work experience you a
young, autistic adult living in Havering?

Sycamore Trust UK is a charity that supports those for whom autism is part of their daily life in Havering, Barking and Redbridge.  They have been commissioned by the London Borough of Havering to find some work experience for those members of the autistic community that are seeking employment.

A lot of these young adults simply lack the skills required to enter the job market, so they are working with a group of between 10-20 young autistic adults, living in Havering, in the hope of finding them some work experience.  Many of these young adults lack the soft skills required by a working environment – turning up on time, dressing appropriately, how to address colleagues, etc.

If you’re able to provide a week or two’s work experience for one or two young autistic adults, Sycamore Trust will provide their CPD accredited Autism Awareness training and an audit of your premises completely free of charge.

There’s no catch, there’s no hidden fees, the project is supported by LBH and they’ve no expectation of anything other than work experience for a young adult member of the Havering autistic community.

London's mayor launches the Women’s Night Safety Charter

The Havering Chamber is very much in support the Women’s Night Safety Charter that the London Mayor has created to make London a city where all women feel confident and welcome at night.

London is a safe city, but too many women feel unsafe when travelling, working or going out at night. Londoners have asked the Night Czar to prioritise women’s safety.
That’s why the Mayor has created this charter. It is part of the Mayor’s Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy and London’s commitment to the UN Women Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces global initiative.

Inward investment the solution to Havering's financial woes.

Councillor Graham Williamson Cabinet Lead for Development, Regeneration and Inclusive Growth outlines the challenges of Havering’s dire financial position, how did we get here, what are the solutions and why it’s so important for Havering residents and businesses.
