After years in development Havering Council has now reached the stage of public consultation prior to the final decision on the East London Data Centre.
Private developer, Digital Reef, is proposing the East Havering Data Centre Campus on land within Havering’s boundary near the M25/Warley substation area. The proposal is being advanced via the Local Development Order (LDO) route led by the Local Planning Authority (LPA).
If given the all clear it will be the largest Data Centre in Europe, right on our doorstep which is why it is being referred to as ‘a once‑in‑a‑generation opportunity’.
It is an investment opportunity worth £14.7 billion (as big as the investment on the 2012 Olympics) which, if approved, will help to provide data sovereignty for the UK, business rates for the borough and hundreds of direct and indirect jobs.
